Sketches & Drawings – The Raw Pulse of Creation
Before a painting takes form, before color breathes life into a canvas, there is the sketch—the first spark of an idea, the rawest expression of emotion, movement, and intention. My sketches and drawings are more than preliminary studies; they are intimate glimpses into the foundation of my artistic process. Each stroke of graphite or charcoal captures something fleeting—grief, tension, quiet contemplation, the haunting presence of the unseen.
From expressive figures caught in moments of vulnerability to eerie, dreamlike forms that linger in shadow, these works explore the depth of human emotion, the weight of memory, and the stories that exist in stillness. Light and shadow play a pivotal role, much like in my paintings, creating contrast that pulls the viewer into each scene, into each unspoken narrative.
Whether detailed or gestural, my sketches hold the same themes that define my larger works: resistance, beauty in decay, the power of femmes, and the tension between what is hidden and what is revealed.
